World Fair Trade Day is an initiative of the World Fair Trade Organization (WFTO: www.wfto.com) whose mission is to enable producers, especially small farmers and artisans, to improve their livelihoods and communities.
This year on the 14th May, they would like to encircle the world by showing the longest Fair Trade video shows, 48 hours, on their website. If you would like to help then you can make your own fair trade video lasting 60 seconds.
Their are also many other events occurring on that day from face painting to fashion shows.

Family Activity Weekend Springwatch - 12th & 13th March 2011
If you feel like getting out and about with the family this weekend then why not visit the Nymans Estate situated in the picturesque High Weald landscape of Sussex. We often, as a family, visit this beautiful National Trust garden and let the children experience the great outdoors as well as stretch their legs.
During this weekend the 12th & 13th March they are holding a family activity weekend where there will be many things to do including decorating a tree with leaves, flowers, birds and eggs and also making mobiles, inspired by spring, to hang at home.
Nymans is internationally famous for its beauty and collection of rare plants so why not take a stroll through the gardens and try and spot the displays of snowdrops and magnolias as well as daffodils.

Wear Your Wellies - 4th March 2011
Give it some Welly for Woodland in March 2011.
The Woodland Trust is holding a new fundraising event to help realise their goal of doubling native tree cover in the UK. The proceeds will help create habitats for wildlife and protecting the woodland.
On 4 March 2011, Wellies are Compulsory, and have some fun with your family and friends.

Fairtrade Fortnight
Please take part in Fairtrade fortnight which starts on the 28th February to 13th March 2011.
This is run by The Fairtrade Foundation to raise awareness that unfair trade rules still leaves people in poverty. Their aim to is give everyone, through their work, a decent and dignified livelihood.
Last year it was the big swap to Fairtrade products during Fairtrade Fortnight.
This year they would like the nation to show off about buying Fairtrade. This will hopefully highlight the benefits of the Fairtrade premium for local communities and the change Fairtrade brings.

Reptiles Undercover - 19th & 20th February 2011
If you are looking for a fun family activity during the half term week why not consider a visit to the London Wetland Centre with many events being held throughout the half term week.
On the 19th and 20th February you can experience the secret world of reptiles including snakes, turtles and lizards. This is a fantastic opportunity for you and your children to see these fascinating animals up close.
On Sunday the 20th February, only, you will have the opportunity to meet a crocodile or an alligator and find out about their habitat, behaviour and why many are under threat.
The display is indoors so even if it is raining you can enjoy a fun day out with the family.

The Baby Show - 18th - 20th February 2011
The Baby Show is coming to the ExCel, London on the 18th - 20th February 2011.
We visited the show last year and were amazed by the amount of stalls dedicated in providing the best products for your new baby. There are 1000's of products to choose from prams to nappies so you can find the best one for you.
If you need any advice regarding pregnancy or on your new born baby there are midwives and health experts there to help you.
Also you will find that most top brands will be giving hugh savings if you purchase on the day.
If you have a baby there are changing and feeding areas and for small children there are play areas although we found that our little ones got quite bored after a few hours.
Although it can get extremely busy we found that, even with a buggy, we could move around quite freely.
This is well worth a visit.

Food Glorious Food Exhibition - 29th January - 25th April 2011
A new exhibition is coming to the V & A Museum of childhood from the 29th January to 25th April 2011.
Its a chance for everyone to experience how different childrens diets were back in Edwardian times and how british food, from school dinners to home cooking, has changed over 100 years including the years of war and rationing. It also explores how food is grown and where it comes from.
There will be special activities for children including storytelling and arts and crafts during half term (21st-25th February)
A great day out for all the family.

Spotting of Santas at Battersea Park
Anna and I went up to London on Saturday (6 Dec) to go Christmas shopping. While travelling through Battersea train station you could not miss lots of people dressed as Santa! We are both keen runners and realised that the Santa Race was taking place at Battersea Park.
This race is organised by Disability snowsport UK which raises money to allow those with a disability to enjoy skiing along side able-bodied. Take a look at their website for further details on the race and other events they organise: www.disabilitysnowsport.org.uk. This race had 2,200 people take part and they were all sent a Santa outfit to wear. We shall both be entering this race next year as it looks great fun!

Christmas Sparkles Market, Brighton, Saturday 29 November
Looking to join in local christmas activities and get some great gifts from local suppliers? Christmas Sparkles Market takes place on New Road (Brighton's historic cultural quarter) on Saturday, 29 November 2008 from 11am to 6pm. This traditional market will have stalls selling seasonal goodies, festive food, competitions and a special children's grotto. This event supports sussex producers, local restaurants and bars, and talented craft workers selling traditional goods.
