Earth Day Wednesday 22 April 2009

Earth Day 2009, April 22, will mark the beginning of the green generation campaign which will also be the focus of the 40th Anniversary of Earth Day in 2010. With negotiations for a new global climate agreement coming up in December, Earth Day 2009 must be a day of action and civic participation, to defend The Green GenerationTM’s core principles:

  • A carbon-free future based on renewable energy that will end our common dependency on fossil fuels, including coal.
  • An individual’s commitment to responsible, sustainable consumption.
  • Creation of a new green economy that lifts people out of poverty by creating millions of quality green jobs and transforms the global education system into a green one
There are events taking place over England to mark this day

26 April - 2 May Throw a Tea Party for Save the Children

Save the Children are inviting people to throw a tea party from 26 April to 2 May 2009 and ask guests to make a donation to the childrens charity.

This event marks the 90th anniversary and the website www.savethechildren.org.uk/gotapotty includes invitations and ideas.

I think this is a great idea, not only do you have a nice afternoon with your friends/family you are helping to save childrens lives.

Enjoying the outdoors!

Following a recent blog we visited two farms in Sussex on Sunday with our children.

Firstly springbarnfarm near lewes where our children bottlefed the lambs and loved playing on the jumping pillow (great fun for us adults too!!)

We then travelled to Middle Farm which has a cider shop, (where you can try over 50 types of cider) farm shop and lovely restaurant. You can of course go to the farm which was reasonably priced.

Great day out as the weather was brilliant, we even got sun burnt!
