Tulleys Farm - Torch Night Maze Evenings

Looking for something to do this bank holiday or at weekends during September then consider Tulleys Farm Torch Night Evening (located Turners Hill, Crawley)

If you live in Sussex then you will probably have heard or have visited Tulleys Farm.

A great place for children with many attractions from play areas, mini diggers, tractors, farm shop, tea room and maize maze.

Torch Maze Night Evenings will be held on Fri Aug 28 / Sat Aug 29, and in September on Fri Sept 4 / Sat Sept 5 / Sat Sept 12 & Sat Sept 19

The eight acre maize field is transformed as your torch beams dance through and over the crop .... creating an atmosphere that you have to be a part of and will never forget.

Website: Tulleys Maize Maze Torch Nights

The Maze fun park will be open from 7pm until 11pm.
The Maze will be opened as soon as darkness falls (approx 8.30pm)

BBQ food and Refreshments will be available from 7pm til 8.30pm in the courtyard and then from 8.30pm til 11pm in the centre of the maze itself.

If I was going to be here over the bank holiday I would certainly take my little girl.

My day in Brighton Sunday 23 August

Had a lovely day in Brighton yesterday, the weather was fantastic and my sister has sunburn to prove it!

My sister, daughter, 6 week old son and I went on to Brighton pier which was very busy but great for people watching! amazing what little clothing people wear when the sun comes out.... :)

However there was a moment when I was very disappointed for my daughter as she wanted to go on the inflatable slide but you had to be a certain height. (0.9 meters) She was told she had to wait to go on so we took off her shoes and she preceeded in getting very excited. When she was about to be let on she was asked to check her height and she was right on the line of 0.9 meters but she was told she was too short!! Well my sister and I could not believe it, firstly why did she not check her height first so I could gently tell my daughter she could not go on it and find something else to go on?

Anyway, we walk around the other rides and happen to walk pass the slide again to find that there was a different member of staff on it. So we thought we would be cheeky and try again but we asked first if she was tall enough.....and guess what she was so my daughter was very happy and loved every minute of it.

After all that we felt we deserved a drink! So went to a bar at the end of the pier which has great views towards Brighton Marina and we sat there watching people having fun in the sea.

I would highly recommend Brighton beach and pier, a great day out for adults as well as children. Lots of arcades, food stalls, bars, unique shops, rides for children and adults and of course the beach www.brightonpier.co.uk

My 5 Weeks Old Son

Here is a picture of my son (5 weeks old) in a Molliemoo Sleepsuit and hat, looking very cute.

I cannot believe he is 5 weeks old but time goes so quickly now I have two to look after. He is doing really well, putting on lots of weight (nearly weighs 13lbs!!) and is now showing some interest in what is going on around him.

He is very easy compared to his sister who is going through the terrible 2's!! Is currently screaming a lot when she cannot have what she wants and waking up in the middle of the night and not wanting to go back to sleep!!

I am looking forward to when this stage is over then it will be the terrible 3's..... :)

Brighton and Hove Food and Drink Festival - September 2009

I was looking for things to do in my area this summer when I came across the Brighton & Hove Food and Drink Festival which is taking place in September. It is run to celebration the best of food and drink available in Sussex.

Events are being held every weekend in September please see details on there website:

Brightonfoodfestival

I am planning on visiting the Mermaid Market which is being held every Saturday and Sunday throughout September at the Brighton Marina in the Village Square 11am-4pm

Restaurants are featuring local festival dishes and fresh local fish at the market, plus free Chilli tastings at the Fiery Food shop in the square.

A good excuse to go to Brighton marina and have lunch as there are some great restaurants overlooking the sea and lovely yachts that I will never be able to afford!!

My Bridesmaids! Saturday 18th July 2009

A little bit late but I had to show you a picture of my beautiful bridesmaids! My wedding took place on 18th July this year and I had both my sisters, their daughters and my daughter! (and it was supposed to be a small wedding!).

Anna looked amazing (right of pic) as her son was born only a week before my big day! fortunately we were still able to buy the bridesmaid dress a week out, as we were waiting and waiting... to see whether he would arrive before the wedding!

The hairclips and bracelets were provided by Harriet who runs 'The Children's Jewellery Company'. Harriet provides a bespoke service and it was great to get these made, by hand, in the colours I was using for my wedding, and have something completely unique for my day.

Chilli Fiesta, 8-9 August, Sussex

This weekend I will be attending the Chilli Fiesta at West Dean Gardens, near Chichester in Sussex. It is now a cult event which is in its 15th year.

With over 250 varieties of Chillies on display and some of the hottest Chilli plants displayed, it is amazing that these are all grown in England.

Food
There will be over 100 exhibitors where you can try sizzling snacks such a hot sausages, chilli sauces, chutneys and jellies but also more unusual products such as chilli ice cream, chilli chocolate and even chilli fruit juices and beers.

Tours
There will be guided tours of the walled gardens, chilli growing demonstrations, and short seminars.

For more information: Chilli Festival

Maybe I will see you there!

World Breastfeeding Week 1-7 August 09

As I am currently breastfeeding my son I thought it was worth a mention about World Breastfeeding Week 1-7 August 2009.

The World Breastfeeding Week (WBW) is the greatest outreach vehicle for the breastfeeding movement, being celebrated in over 120 countries. This year, WABA teams up with the Emergency Nutrition Network (ENN) and the International Baby Food Action Network-Geneva Infant Feeding Association (IBFAN-GIFA) who represent an international collaboration of United Nations agencies and non-governmental organisations (IFE Core Group) concerned with protection and support of safe and appropriate infant and young child feeding in emergencies. Together we call for the active protection and support of breastfeeding during emergencies and the prevention and refusal of donations of breastmilk substitutes1, bottles and teats that, too often, do more harm than good.

Please read more at http://worldbreastfeedingweek.org/images/press_release.pdf

If you are on twitter you can also show your support at http://twibbon.com/join/World-Breastfeeding-Week

I appreciate how breastfeeding helps protect your child from illnesses but there is a greater need for mothers to do this in poorer countries especially in emergencies to protect themselves and their children.
